The magazine Centrale was founded in 1920 by the Central Administration of Jewish Welfare and Social Assistance (currently the Royal Society CBJW vzw). The founder, Nico Gunzburg, a prominent Belgian jurist and social reformer, was renowned for his exceptional contributions to criminal law and social reforms. Gunzburg played a key role in promoting justice and equality, leaving a lasting legacy on the magazine.

Revival after a dark period
Centrale has been published continuously, except during the dark period of the Holocaust when its activities were forcibly halted. After the war, the magazine resumed with renewed dedication.
